Makah Tribe Health Center
Neah Bay, WA
The Makah Indian Tribe is located on the northwestern-most point of the continental United States, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Since the tribe is located in the United States’ only rainforest, the exterior of this structure was designed to withstand 100 mph exposure wind conditions, and an average of 100″ of rain per year. The building was also designed with a temporary weather tight roof to protect the modules from water damage during the installation. This single story building utilized a wide range of energy saving features such as electric heat-pumps, insulated windows (36 U-Value), insulated exterior doors, building wrapping, motion sensors for fluorescent lighting, and other automated occupancy sensors.
