Several of Modern’s staff joined local construction companies in an event hosted by the Salem chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. NAWIC’s Construction Career Day gives students exposure to the variety of careers available in the construction and trade industries. Students run large equipment, ask tradespeople questions and experience first-hand many of the interactive exhibits, including building brick walls and creating basic electrical circuits.
Modern’s staff enjoyed playing Jenga with students while discussing what gives a construction career a solid base. Students asked insightful questions about how off-site construction differs from site-built construction processes. Modern believes strongly in investing in the next generation of tradesmen and women!
