The local Fire and Emergency Medical Services Agency desired a craftsman lodge style building with board and batt siding, dry stack rock wainscot, and a rustic vaulted timber entryway. The building would need to accommodate their day to day operations and fit on their existing property. The interior elements of the building included several multipurpose conference spaces, teaching classrooms, and a full sized training room. A unique food preparation area was added to allow for community gatherings and celebrations, as well as outreach to youth for teaching healthy food habits. The classroom spaces and state of the art emergency simulation room, including a full sized ambulance, allow for the training of real on the job emergencies.
Before contacting Modern, the client attempted to initiate their expansion project through a traditional construction company. This venture cost the client thousands of dollars on preliminary designs that ultimately proved to be well outside their budget specifications. Modern was able to work with the client to match their preferred building design, timeline, and budget constraints. Modern’s accelerated off-site construction and in house transport, LEED AP design team, structural and civil engineers and site crew significantly reduced the expansion cost of the building. This allowed surplus funds to be used to upgrade materials such as the heavy duty flooring, eco-friendly insulation, and a more durable roofing system. In the long run, the client will save more in maintenance costs.
