About
This two story modular administration building, built for the Alaska Ship and Dry dock Company, is situated directly on the waterfront in Ketchikan, AK. Design emphasis on low maintenance, heavy duty finishes means the building can withstand 120 mph Exposure D wind conditions and an average of 137" of rain per year. The exterior utilized 24 gauge metal siding with awning style windows and storefront aluminum doors. Interior features include wood trims and finishes, sheetrock interior walls, carpet tiles and heavy duty flooring throughout the building. An innovative approach using one custom transport chassis to move the units to the docks and onto the ferry allowed for a significantly lesser transport weight for the barge. This decision achieved significant project savings for the client without impacting the building.
