Modular Building Institute – the commercial modular industry organization – recognized it’s leaders in design and technology last week at the annual awards presentation. Modern was honored to receive two prestigious acknowledgments this year.
Honorable mention in the category of Temporary Modular in Commercial Housing over 10,000 square feet was awarded to a recent student dormitory project completed for Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, CA.
Situated on the beautiful campus of one of the country’s most prestigious preparatory schools, these temporary student housing facilities needed to blend with the architecture of the existing campus. Built to withstand the wear and tear of continuous use from their residents, these lovely structures prove temporary modular solutions can be provide quality and aestics within the efficient modular timeline.
Located at the street edge in a bustling downtown and continuously in use at a rate of roughly 200 people per hour, the modular restroom & office space provided by Modern created a solution to an urgent problem faced by the city. With the current building suffering from severe structural and safety issues, the transit system needed a solution and they needed one fast. Utilization of quality products to withstand abuse from frequent use, reduce the possibility of disease transmission and increase the building’s energy efficiency – combine to create a modular solution that went beyond meeting the need of a physical space.
Both the Steven School dorms and the Salem Transit facilities reflect Modern’s commitment to sustainable building practices. Recycled products, local purchasing and innovative energy efficient technologies are involved in both projects. Temporary modular buildings built with an environmental consciousness can make an impact on our footprint.
